ABOUT THE ARTIST

I like to think of my work as postcards from my own dream world

Jane Dashley is a Dallas-based painter whose work draws on fairytale, folklore, and feminist narratives to create worlds outside of ordinary time and reality. Self-taught and working in acrylics, she has developed a distinctive visual language over six years in which women, animals, and enchanted objects inhabit a world that is ancient, playful, and entirely their own.

Dashley's work has been exhibited at the African American Museum of Dallas, Bergdorf Goodman's flagship store, and Gattopardo Gallery in Los Angeles, and is held in private collections worldwide. Her artistic collaborations extend into the world of fashion, where she has worked with designer Reed Krakoff and ShoeMint, a background that informs the richness of costume, color, and storytelling detail present throughout her paintings. Before dedicating herself to painting, Dashley built a career in the fashion industry, bringing to her canvases a trained eye for beauty, narrative, and the power of image-making.
