My sunburst paintings are inspired by mystic rituals, heraldry, the American southwest, altars and game boards. I painted this in my own kitchen over Christmas and it reflects the pink and red walls of my own home. This last year in East Dallas we had an amazing population of butterflies in so many different varieties, and we have a big tree in our yard that they loved to feed on. It was breathtaking to see and every visitation felt like a special blessing to our home. These butterflies were the inspiration for the many "sunburst" format paintings I made this past year and these paintings are my way of acknowledging and passing on that blessing.
10% of the sales of this collection will be donated to immigration lawyer funds and meal distribution in Minneapolis.
