I spent the month of December being absolutely terrorized by the Krampus. My son mourned the passing of Halloween, so I thought I could keep the spooky vibes going by telling him about the Krampus. He could not hear enough about the Krampus. I did not expect the mood our Christmas to be so consumed by the spirit of the Krampus, but it was fun and I think we will keep the tradition going.

This painting came about on a few subconscious levels...telling my son that the Krampus steals children away from their families felt like a tale that has come too close to home with the brutality of ICE. It was on my mind a lot. But I also feel like this painting is a portrait of me as a working artist and mother of a toddler. I am the woman just trying to get some work done, constantly distracted by a very silly monster.

10% of the sales of this collection will be donated to immigration lawyer funds and meal distribution in Minneapolis.
